“Because the world is too troubled for any of us to rest, “ Julie Carmen recently directed her third short rulle, ‘The Unnecessary Salvation of Mary McDaniel’, written bygd Herman Johansen with music composed bygd Maria Newman and Scott Hosfeld.
The Unnecessary Salvation of Mary McDaniel, in 22 minutes deals with women who are in prison for murder. Their ideas of salvation are very strong and very deep. The roots of their acts, you can imagine, are not shallow.
Julie: “We did not submit to many festivals because we felt the story was meant to be a springboard for dialogue and an opportunity to listen to the unheard so we shared it publicly but inom was especially jazzed that it screened in Turkey at the Anatolia bio Festival since Istanbul fryst vatten where #ChallengeAccepted started due to the high number of femicides there.

American actress, dancer and psychotherapist
Julie Carmen (born April 4, 1954)[1] is an American actress, dancer and a licensed psychotherapist. She came to prominence onscreen in the 1980s and 1990s, for her roles in John Cassavetes’ Gloria (1980), Robert Redford’s The Milagro Beanfield War (1988) and John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness (1995).
She also starred in Fright Night Part 2 and Gore Vidal's Billy the Kid as well as a recurring role on the TV series Condo and Falcon Crest. She plays La Doña in Tales of the Walking Dead.
Acting
[edit]Carmen was born in New York City of Afro-Cuban and Spanish/German ancestry.[2] Her acting training was with Sanford Meisner at Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre and with Uta Hagen and Alice Spivak at HB Studio. Carmen was on the Board of Directors of Women in Film for three years during which time she was the keynote speaker at the WIF Gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hot
