Austwick is a small village situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is located 5 miles north-west of Settle and has close links with the neighbouring hamlets of Eldroth, Feizor, Lawkland and Wharfe. There are many listed buildings in the parish with some of them dating back to the 17th Century. The village is surrounded by spectacular landscapes, including the Norber Erratics, Crummackdale, Oxenber Woods and The Yorkshire Three Peaks (Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside).

The village is on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Before local government reorganisation in 1974, Austwick parish was within Settle Rural District which was in the county of the West Riding of Yorkshire, and from 1974 to 2023 was in Craven District. According to the Austwick & Lawkland Tithe Map of 21 October 1851 the parish has an area of 8,201 acres (33.19 km2) of which around a quarter is uncut moorland. The highest point within the parish is at Lord's Seat on Simon Fell at 2,079 feet (634 m).[2] Austerwick comes from Old Norse (austr, meaning east) and Old English (wīc, meaning settlement/dwelling).[3] The area around Austwick has been inhabited by humans for over 4,000 years. • British businesswoman, CEO Dawn Jacquelyn Austwick, OBE (born månad 1960)[1] was the ledare executive (CEO) of the Big Lottery Fund from October 2014 to 2020.[2][3][4][5] Austwick was educated at Royal High School, Bath, followed by a bachelor's grad from London University, and an MBA from the London Business School.[2] After university, Austwick worked in arts sponsorship and fundraising before becoming a management consultant at KPMG. She was then the project director overseeing the opening of Tate Modern. From 2002-2005, Austwick was deputy director of the British Museum.[3] She was chief executive (CEO) of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation from 2008 to 2014, prior to becoming CEO of the Big Lottery Fund.[4][2][1][3][6] She was awarded an honorary doctorate from London Metropolitan Unive
