Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged Cesar Augusto Gonzalez-Lopez, 30, after he allegedly attempted to start a fire on the outside of Lexington Park home Sunday afternoon. 

Just before 12:00 p.m., deputies from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to the 46400 block of Sue Drive, where a dispute had occurred the previous evening between the homeowner and Gonzalez-Lopez over stolen property. Witnesses reported to deputies that Gonzalez-Lopez had entered a shed behind the home and emerged with a container. He then began spreading an oily substance on the exterior of the home. Witnesses also reported that Gonzalez Lopez had broken into the residence, causing damage to the home. 

Before investigators arrived, deputies detained Gonzalez Lopez at his brother's residence. Deputy State Fire Marshals subsequently conducted interviews and examined the Sue Drive property. During the investigation, deputies confirmed that several witnesses had seen Gonzale

ST. MARY’S COUNTY, MD — Deputy State Fire Marshals have arrested and charged a Lexington Park man in connection with an attempted arson incident on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Cesar Augusto Gonzalez-Lopez, 30, faces multiple charges after allegedly attempting to set fire to a residence following a dispute with the homeowner over stolen property.

According to authorities, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call just before noon at the 46400 block of Sue Drive, where Gonzalez-Lopez had been involved in an altercation the previous evening. Witnesses at the scene informed deputies that Gonzalez-Lopez had entered a shed located behind the home before emerging with a container filled with an unknown oily substance. He then reportedly began pouring the substance around the exterior of the home, raising alarm among bystanders.

VIDEO: One Arrested After Attempted Assault with a Machete in usa Park, No Injuries Reported

9/3/2021: On Friday, August 27, 2021, at approximately 11:55 p.m., police and emergency medical personnel responded to the area of Suburban Drive and Pleasant Drive in usa Park, for the reported assault with a machete.

The 911 caller reported a man armed with a machete attacked multiple people, an active disturbance was heard in the background of the call and dispatchers advised their was a language barrier.

Medical personnel were requested to the scene due to the caller stating four victims suffered injuries from the assault.

Police arrived on the scene and made contact with two victims (brothers) who advised they were sitting in a pickup truck that was parked in a residences driveway on Leesa Court listening to music, when the suspect and the suspects brother approached the vehicle and knocked on the window.
