Steven Bauer
With his burly screen presence, Steven Bauer found a strong niche in the realm of action cinema. Born Esteban Ernesto Echevarría Samson in Havana, Cuba in 1956, Bauer's family fled Fidel Castro's revolution and sought a new life in America when Bauer was just three years old. He grew to develop a passion for performing, and would eventually study theater at the University of Miami, where he befriended future star Ray Liotta. Eventually, Bauer got his professional start in the business with a role as a Cuban American on the series "¿Qué pasa, U.S.A.?" (PBS, 1977-1980) in 1977. The part was not much of a stretch for the young actor, but he would prove himself with increasing power on screen, playing Manny alongside Al Pacino in the now classic "Scarface" (1981).
More action oriented work would come his way, including roles in action comedy "Running Scared" (1986) and skateboarding movie "Gleaming the Cube" (1989). Eventually, Bauer re-teamed with director Brian De Palm
