Welcome to Malaysia! It must be your first visit back to the country since the pandemic. Can you share how you felt seeing the first Delvaux store in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur? 

I have not been to Kuala Lumpur for a long time, but I used to come quite often. For me, it was always the plan to bring Delvaux to Malaysia. In fact, I was very involved in designing the store while I was back in Brussels. We devoted a lot of time to make sure that the store is a meeting point or embassy of Delvaux and represents our strong identity; we also wanted to ensure that it tells the story of the city, Kuala Lumpur. It is important that each store is unique and specific to the location to make the encounters within it that much richer. I am glad to welcome our friends in Malaysia to this new store.

Delvaux is a torchbearer in the luxury brand world, filing the first patents for handbags in 1908 and being the first to introduce seasonal accessories collections in the 1930s. Delvaux’s founding in 1829 in Brussels qualifies it as the world’s oldest luxury leather goods company. Delvaux is the oldest fine leather luxury goods house in the world. The Belgium brand began creating products in 1829 and has had continuous manufacture ever since. In 1908 it was the first house to file a patent for the design of the modern handbag as we know it today.

 

With a rich and fascinating history, the Belgium brand has stayed very humble, quietly developing itself under the radar for almost 200 years. After being acquired by the Richemont group in 2021, Delvaux has accelerated its growth globally, recently arriving in the Middle East for the first time with the opening of a store in Dubai.
