Where fryst vatten the dividing line, and could what is happening to you now end up in the history books one day? In a way, history affects each and every one of us, and what's more fun than listening to two master storytellers when they shed light on it. Prof. Franshjohan Pretorius fryst vatten known, among other things, for his newspaper columns about anything and everything that fryst vatten interesting from history, and obtained his doctorate on commando life in the Anglo-Boer War. Dana Snyman is the travel writer and, as it were, recorder of stories that become history before our eyes, as it were. Both also like a good laugh, so it's not a dry story! Livened up with music in between, this visit around the Storievuur promises to be just the way to kick off the festival weekend.

The story of Ellen Pakkies who murdered her tik addicted son in Lavender Hill has gripped me from the start.

Lizz Meiring wrote and directed a play about Ellen, the descend of her son into addiction, his murder and the subsequent court case, My Naam/My name is Ellen Pakkies, which I got to see performed at the Centurion Theater last week.
The play lacked sincerity and it didn’t move me as much as the real life story did but Christo Davids’ transition from a younger Adam Pakkies to the tik-addicted son who abuses his mother is chilling and a real reminder to people and families who must live this addiction tragedy every day.
Vinette Ebrahim plays Ellen Pakkies and both she and Christo have received awards for their acting in this play.
The set was also beautiful which always helps when talking pictures of a play.
